Nanango Shire Drive

The Nanango region is steeped in history and this route follows the D’Aguilar Highway with offshoots to historical and natural points of interest, including Yarraman, Blackbutt, Taromeo, the Benarkin State Forest and Nanango itself. Side trips include a forest drive and a river drive with swimming opportunities.  Learn how coal is converted to electricity and seek out “Hannibal”, the dragline bucket.  

Distance: The round trip for the base tour is approximately 80 kilometres. Side trips will add on at least another 80 kilometres.
Time: Driving time is estimated at 2 hours plus sightseeing time.
Road Conditions: Most of this drive is on the D’Aguilar Highway with unsealed sections through State Forest areas and to Taromeo Station.
