Nanango

... proud heritage

Nanango Established in 1848, Nanango is Queensland's fourth oldest town and, together with Blackbutt, forms the southern gateway to the South Burnett.

Nanango is a town blessed with a tranquil setting, genuine country hospitality and a proud heritage. Murals and chainsaw sculptures adorn the town centre, while the regular markets and festivals add vitality to the township.

Historic Ringsfield House is the perfect site for a Devonshire tea and an insight into pioneering life, while the impressive display of the Tarong Power Station at the Visitor Information Centre is a reminder of the region’s progress.

The variety of bird life throughout the shire is unsurpassed, and wineries dotted around Nanango link with the South Burnett Wine Trail.  Nanango is also an ideal base for many 4WD tracks and parks that surround the area.  Good quality motel and caravan park accommodation is available in Nanango.

Drive a little further south to discover Tipperary Flat, featuring pioneering displays and a slab hut, and Seven Mile Diggings, popular with both gold fossickers and 4WD enthusiasts. Fossicking and recreational permits are available from the Visitor Information Centre.

Further to the west lies Maidenwell, where picturesque Coomba Falls is well worth a visit. The East Nanango State Forest, 8 kilometres from Nanango is also a great picnic area.
