Places to Visit

Travel north west of Brisbane over the Blackbutt Range and coastal valleys to the east, or through the magnificent Bunya Mountains and you'll find one of Australia's richest farming districts.  The South Burnett features scenic patchworks of deep red soils and vivid green crops and offers visitors a great alternative route north.

Famous for being the national capital of peanuts and navy beans, vineyards and olive groves are now complementing these traditional crops and live stock production of beef, pork and dairying.  The South Burnett is one of Australia's newest wine producing regions already winning many awards.  Wine buffs will enjoy exploring the vineyards and tasting the fine wines and cuisine of the region.

The shires and towns of the South Burnett include Kilkivan and Goomeri, Kingaroy and Kumbia, Murgon and Cherbourg, Nanango, Wondai and Proston, Blackbutt and Yarraman.

The South Burnett is alive with historical and natural wonders, so be sure to allow yourself time to explore them all!
