Birdwatching

Bird Watching in the South Burnett

Birdwatching is popular in the South Burnett, especially in Yarraman, where bird-watchers can catch a glimpse of a rare quail that is known to frequent only a small section of forest country in the area. Many bird-watchers also flock to Mudlo Gap Conservation Park, Broadwater Recreational Reserve, EH Duncan Park, Mill Dam and Koala Sanctuary, Pioneer Park, The Grey Street Local Government Reserve and Sandy Creek.

At Mount Wooroolin, near Kingaroy, bird-watchers may sight Regent Bower Birds, Black Breasted Quail of the Eastern Shrike-tit, whilst Jacanas, White Brested Sea Eagles and Pygmy Geese can be studied from bird hides at Gordonbrook Dam, Lake Barambah, near Murgon, also boasts a host of water birds, where over 80 carieties have been sighted.
